Air Fryer French Fries (Healthier Version)
Crispy, golden french fries made with just a teaspoon of oil in an air fryer
Ingredients
- 2 lbs russet potatoes
- 1 tablespoon avocado oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: parmesan, truffle oil, vinegar for serving
Instructions
- Wash and cut potatoes into 1/4-inch batons (stick shape)
- Soak cut potatoes in water for 30 minutes (removes starch)
- Drain and pat very dry with paper towels
- Toss with avocado oil in a bowl
- Season with salt, garlic powder, paprika, and pepper
- Preheat air fryer to 400°F for 5 minutes
- Place fries in air fryer basket in single layer
- Cook for 15 minutes
- Shake basket and cook for 5-10 more minutes
- Fries should be golden brown and crispy
- Remove to a plate
- Optional: toss with truffle oil or parmesan
Tips for Success
- Soak potatoes to remove starch - this is key
- Pat completely dry - moisture prevents crispiness
- Don't overcrowd basket
- Shake basket at least once during cooking
- Eat immediately for best crispness
- Much healthier than deep-fried (90% less oil)
